Burnished Gold Eagle Mintages

The mintage levels for the Burnished American Gold Eagles have captured the attention of many collectors. Since the coins were introduced, sales levels have receded to extremely low levels. Several issues command sharp premiums for their rarity.

When the coins were introduced in 2006, they were available across four different sizes and sold individually or within a 4-coin set. For the inaugural year, the one ounce burnished Gold Eagle was also included in the 20th Anniversary Gold Eagle Set.

For the following two years, the coins were once again offered individually or within sets. Low mintages were seen across the 2008-W issues.

After a two year gap, the US Mint resumed offering the product, but in one ounce size only. The 2012-W Burnished Gold Eagle had a final audited mintage of only 5,829 pieces, establishing a new low across all bullion and numismatic issues.

The mintage figures below include coins sold individually or within sets. Unless otherwise noted, the figures represent the final audited mintages provided by the United States Mint.
